Dr. Ausaf Sayeed

Ambassador Dr. Ausaf Sayeed (b.September 18, 1963) is a former career Indian diplomat belonging to the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) of the 1989 Batch. He served as Secretary (CPV & OIA) in India’s Ministry of External Affairs from March 2022 to September 2023, being responsible for matters pertaining to Consular, Passport, Visas, Overseas Emigration, and NRI & Overseas Indian Affairs, besides affairs of GCC and WANA countries.

He previously served as Ambassador of India to Saudi Arabia and Yemen, High Commission of India to Seychelles, and Consul General of India in Chicago and Jeddah, besides holding various diplomatic assignments in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Denmark. During his nearly 34 years of diplomatic service, Dr. Sayeed has represented India’s interests in political, economic, and cultural realms and fostered friendly relationships with nations around the world.

Dr. Ausaf Sayeed has handled different areas of work in his nearly 34 years of diplomatic service, including political, economic, consular and cultural work, and Hajj management.

Dr. Ausaf Sayeed holds a Master of Science and a Ph.D. in Geology from the Osmania University in Hyderabad, India, and an Advanced Diploma in Arabic from the American University in Cairo. He is a Competent Toastmaster (CTM) and recipient of the Shri Y.G.K.Murthy Gold Medal from Osmania University, Hyderabad. The prestigious Yoga Mithra Award was also conferred on him by the S-Vyasa University for his efforts to promote Yoga in Saudi Arabia.
